Rochester Public Schools (RPS) Health Services Team will be providing vision and hearing screenings at Elton Hills on Wednesday 9/20/23.
Students receive a baseline screening by properly trained individuals for the purpose of early
identification of potential vision or hearing problems and referral to medical provider for further
evaluation if needed. The school screenings are not intended to replace professional
examinations.
Elementary students in the first and third grades will receive vision and hearing
screenings at school, and fifth grade students will receive a vision only screening. Vision
and hearing screenings may also be provided to students when there are parent/caregiver or
teacher concerns and for any new students. Vision and hearing health are critical to the learning process and it is strongly recommended that students participate in the screening. If you wish your child to be excluded from either or both screenings, please notify your student’s health office staff. Following the screenings, the parent/caregiver will be notified through a referral process if the student does not pass the screening.
